There are a ton of articles about how to earn money online, effective internet marketing and ways to promote your website or blog, so many in fact that it’s easy to be overwhelmed. The following article focuses on 3 key areas that you should address when promoting your blog or website:

Focus on free traffic, why pay for something you can get for free right? One of the most common mistakes when making a blog or website is the lack of attention to META tags. When you submit your site to search engines, make sure that your META tags reflect your website. The things to keep in mind of are target and competitor keywords, target and competitor descriptions etc…
I use a program called IBP to optimize my website and blogs for search engines. You can just as easily analyze the html of sites you are in competition with to get the same information. In this business like many others, time is money. Try your best to find the best use of your time whether it be creating content, marketing your website or creating backlinks.
2.) Backlinks
I’ve said this a million times and if its not reinforced yet, I will say it one more time… We need backlinks!
Your site traffic will be directly related to the number of high quality sites linking back to your website or blog. This is because Google has something called a “Popularity” rating and it actively monitors your authority links to determine your position.
The best way to gain backlinks is to ask bloggers and website owners in the same niche. Think about it, the worst thing that could happen would be that they refuse, right? I’ve realized over time that the more you ask the more you will receive, it’s a numbers game, plain and simple.
2.) Social Networking
