The make money online niche however is a great place to practice your SEO i.e. search engine optimization skills. You will have an amazing challenge when trying to compete with people like Carl Ocab, Moneymaker, Grizzly etc… It’s not that these guys have bought the top of the SERP’s for the name but rather they know what they are doing, they are internet marketers, not bloggers and the difference is more than you can imagine.
These people know how to harness search engine traffic and make Google work for them rather than the other way around. They understand niche keywords and how to incorporate them into their articles so they receive maximum benefit, this approach is sometimes called on site SEO…
Another thing they are experts at is seeking out and finding one way anchor text optimized keyword links from sites that are brimming with PR i.e. page rank…

Your niche website empire will slowly increase in page rank as you build your sites and eventually you will be able to string them all together using anchor text links to provide maximum PR benefit…

The bottom line is that it is my opinion that you shouldn’t waste your time trying to obtain social traffic… The problem with social traffic is that it won’t last! You might get lucky and post an article that really creates a buzz for a few days and then cools off… The nice thing about search traffic is that it is always there and it wont stop for anyone, it is like a freight train that runs 24 hours a day, what you want to do is put your website on the tracks!
Another thing about the how to make money online niche is that most of the visitors will be trying to learn how to make money online and not looking to help you by clicking on your text ads or signing up for your affiliate programs… In the rare case that you do pull off a sale or a click the happiness will probably not last and will most certainly fade.
Unless you get people searching for very general and short keyword terms like :
Make money, earn money, fash cash, get rich quick, work from home etc…
You will probably not be able to cash in on the traffic with pay per click advertising. The reason these guys are at the top of the SERP’s is not because their content is the most relevant but rather that they find ways to get high quality PR4 anchor text links or better every month and add them to their collection. If they are not able to get new links honestly, they can always go to a company like Text-Link Ads and purchase a few high quality links until they can find the linking partners to make up for lost links and catch up to their linking strategy.
Once you get the right search traffic, the money will start pouring in assuming that your site has a good monetization strategy and your ads are placed in the right areas. If you are uncertain that your ads are optimized correctly, you can always search for the term Google Heat Map to see the most common spots that people generally click.
Its still a good idea to go after some social traffic… For example, sites like Digg and StumbleUpon can bring a huge quantity of visitors and social bookmarking sites like Furl, Ask Jeeves and Blinx offer much needed do-follow social bookmarks/links for your site. A service that I use quite often is called SocialMarker and it is great for obtaining a large quantity of do follow social bookmark links quickly and efficiently.
Even though this site is only a few months old, this website is receiving upwards of 60% of all traffic from search engines, mainly Google but Yahoo also brings a fair amount of traffic as well. If you want me to go into more detail, it translates into almost 200 unique visitors per day… How did I manage to do that in such a short time?
I have targeted keywords that are slightly outside the Make Money Online arena but are still related vaguely in the make money category or niche. If you’ve noticed some strange posts as of late, that is because I have been experimenting with different products and services and seeing if I can obtain corporate sponsorship for this site in an effort to propel it to success more quickly.

Well I don’t want to go into too much detail but because my main traffic is coming from other bloggers and people looking for specific things, lets just say that I have catered towards that market…
