Blogging for Cash

Increasing Google Page Rank with Deep Links

Blogging for cash can be extremely exciting and fun or the exact opposite depending on whether you like the topic your blogging about in the first place. If you are like me, people may think that you are simply blogging but in actuality you are in the process of marketing and obtaining search traffic which will directly impact your advertising revenue and sales. In all honesty, I wanted to go ahead and give my subscribers a monthly update. For those of you that have stuck around since my last wave of rants and raves, I definitely appreciate you waiting it out… The fact of the matter is that this website has become a sort of training grounds for research in search engine optimization.

There is more than enough search traffic and opportunity to spread around and for my subscribers that have stuck with me, I’d like to fill you in on my progress and regarding the monetization of this website and my expected growth for the next few months…

Recent Changes:

1.) Your Blog Is Money Upgraded to PR2

This website was previously a PR0 blog for a few months and it has just received a boost to PR2. Many of you may scratch your heads and say… “Hey, if this guy is supposed to be such a pro at SEO, why did he only receive an upgrade to PR2?”

That is a great question and the only answer I can come up with is the fact that I have been using a lot of my linking resources to boost individual pages, planting what are known as “deep links.” The reason I have used this strategy is to spread my PR out among different pages in order to facilitate future joint ventures without having to open up my blogroll…

I’ll admit it’s a forward thinking strategy and I’m still uncertain as to whether it will work as intended but I have several pages on this blog that are actually ranked as PR3. Personally, I don’t monitor the PR ranking too much other than to try and leverage it with other blog and website owners in my niche but rather I use my SERP ranking to monitor my progress. The application of internet marketing can be applied in many forms including what many people think of as “blogging for cash.”

Right now, this blog is getting on average of 200 visitors/day… Believe me, there are many websites that have much higher PR ranking with less than half the traffic that this site is getting. I’ll admit I’m slightly lazy when it comes to posting graphics but in regard to my Alexa ranking, here is the most current screenshot:

Most people don’t pay attention to Alexa very much because their methods for tracking traffic are flawed to say the least. However if you are moving down rapidly towards number one, then generally you are doing something right in regard to either natural search engine traffic or social traffic. Unfortunately Alexa is unable to distinguish one from the other.

2.) Adsense Revenue Has Increased

I can’t go into much detail regarding this factor because of the Google Adsense TOS but naturally because traffic has increased, Adsense revenue has increased with it.

3.) Affiliate and Referral Revenue Has Increased

Internet Marketing revolves around selling a product or service and it doesn’t matter if it’s something that you have created or something that you are selling for someone else, if you can’t become successful in this area than the chances of you making a significant amount of money online become a lot smaller. Its still very possible to obtain a living from Google Adsense and other PPC programs but the traffic you will need a huge amount of traffic unless you are able to find a niche with an extremely high CTR i.e. click thru rate.

If I was willing to sacrifice morals in exchange for profits, I would probably be doing a lot better monetarily however there are unseen costs and benefits that are not calculated which I would attribute to the invisible hand i.e. KARMA! It’s much better to find products and services you believe in, you’re willing to pay for and that you find useful on a daily, weekly or monthly basis before recommending them to someone else. This is my opinion and I will leave it at that.

I’m addressing this issue now because I intend to spend a significant amount of my time in the future recommending products and services that have helped me become successful with this website as well as others that I have created in the past. If you really want to start making good money you can’t be afraid to invest a little, a blog is a business if you choose to look at it that way… Every business has overhead and expenses to a certain extent and people that are unwilling to invest will be much less successful than that of people that invest wisely. I don’t mind if people disagree with me on this point as it makes my life easier because the environment is less competitive that way…

4.) Web Traffic is Growing Exponentially

Because of my aggressive link building campaign and the fact that this domain name has aged for a few months, I have found that it is becoming much easier to rank for less competitive terms and this site is even starting to show up in the rankings for extremely competitive terms like “Make Money Online,” “How to Make Money Online,” “How to Make Money Online for Beginners,” “How to Make a Blog.”

Feel free to search for these terms, especially the last two and see if you can spot this website in the rankings! I have discussed the Google Sandbox effect and the benefits of having properly aged links in previous articles but both of these factors seem to play a significant role in your search engine ranking places.

Conclusion:

In the next few months I expect to be ranking for some extremely sought after search terms in addition to a few obscure keyword terms that bring extremely targeted traffic i.e. the type that like to buy things! In addition, I hope to have this site up to a PR4 or better when the next update comes around. To address the title of this article i.e. Blogging for Cash, I would say that “blogging” in itself is not a waste of time but should not be done in hopes of striking it rich. However, conducting proper keyword research and then writing content that is optimized followed by the creation of a few links to that content can definitely result in a nice steady income!
